Vera Smith-Winfree, M.Ed

A native of New York, Vera Smith-Winfree is a highly successful corporate and community relations professional with a passion for social change and civic engagement. For more than 20 years, she has successfully managed, developed, and organized projects and programs for both for-profit and non-profit organizations in the greater Hartford and New England areas as well as on college campuses.

From 2005 to 2012, she served as the chief executive and administrative officer for the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce.

Over the last 10 years, she has worked in partnership with Connecticut’s attorney general, the secretary of state, state representatives, the state’s business advocate, local government and state agencies. She continues to consult and collaborate with several social service agencies and organizations, including the 4H Education Center at Auerfarm, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity and the Town of Bloomfield. In addition, she coordinates community service projects, membership recruitment and retention activities, and facilitates trainings on leadership and risk management.

She holds degrees from Rutgers University, University of Georgia and was a 2010 Fellow with the The Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Sustainable Development.

An author and blogger, she co-authored An Anthology of Sisterhood, a collection of more than 100 original poems, essays, short stories and lyrics, by 22 women, and is a freelance writer with Progressive Greek, an online magazine, which provides individual and organizational development opportunities to the African-American Greek-lettered community.
